NAFTA Negotiations – Now is Not the Time to Panic

NAFTA negotiations have opened for a seventh round in Mexico City and will continue until March 5, 2018. Talks are being complicated with the added pressure of political deadlines looming starting with Mexican federal elections set to begin in late March, U.S. mid term elections later this year and the Canadian federal election slated for 2019. While the government remains optimistic, the Canada West Foundation (CWF) has released a report outlining possible outcomes if the United States withdraws from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
